In autumn 2014, Hanns Holger Rutz and David Pirrò founded the algorithmic improvisation duo “Anemone Actiniaria”. They have played various concerts, and were conducting an artistic research project at ZKM Karlsruhe in 2015. They are currently developing a coupling of their respective computer music systems “Wolkenpumpe” (aka “Sound Processes”) and “Rattle”. This is inspired by the notion of an emergent new machine through ‘orientation’ and ‘composition’ as outlined by Heinz von Foerster and Dirk Baecker, whereby the functions of operators and operands of the formerly separated systems begin to vacillate.
